As players return to the ice for evaluations or practice, they may be wearing their equipment for the first time since last season. Straps and fasteners could need to be adjusted for growing bodies in order to provide a safe, secure fit. This is also an important time to remind all those involved with player safety about the proper ways to wear your equipment.

Registration is now open for the U7, U8, U9 Blended Development Clinic. This clinic will run on Tuesdays at Markham Centennial Arena from 5:00pm-6:00pm. The clinic begins on Tuesday October 7th and will run until the last weekend in March 2025. The cost of the clinic is $450.00.

The MMHA Hockey Development Program is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the following Fall 2025 Development Clinics. Both our Player and Goalie Development Clinics provide our players an opportunity for additional skill instruction by professional instructors throughout the hockey season. 

The Head Trainer is responsible for ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of all U14 AAA Markham Waxers players during practices, games, and team events. This role involves injury prevention, first aid response, injury assessment, and the coordination of return-to-play protocols in accordance with Hockey Canada and OMHA guidelines. As part of our bench staff, you’ll be working alongside an elite coaching team that includes former NHL alumni Raffi Torres and Mike Zigomanis, as well as former professional players Matt Schmidt and Chris Bahen. Hockey helmets are essential for helping to protect hockey players of all ages from serious head injuries, but not all helmets are created equally. Trusted manufacturers work with third-party testing and certification organizations like CSA Group to rigorously test helmets for safety, durability, and effectiveness. However some counterfeit helmets have recently been discovered for public sale using forgeries of the CSA label. These helmets have not undergone proper safety standard teesting and pose a potential risk to player safety.
